Your Robe, Your Call Part I

Your Robe, Your Call

We’ve said it at Dove and Donkey and we’ll say it here: we believe in design without boundaries. This approach extends beyond how we style our spaces— it applies to how we style ourselves.

Most of us tend to have fixed ideas about how and when to wear certain pieces in our closets. These ideas are governed by seasons, colors, or occasions and of course, these ideas are often useful in curating wardrobes that fit our lives.

BUT, what can happen if we expand on these ideas? Challenge the ‘rules’ a bit? Our answer: delightfully unexpected but chic looks.

If these feel like big questions, don’t worry. We don’t just ‘talk the talk’; we ‘walk the walk’, and that’s why we’re bringing you our Your Robe, Your Call series here on Wear It Like. We’ll be sharing our ideas for how to style our robes, wherever you wear them.

Lucky for us (and you!), Jadine is a professional stylist with a knack for creating creative and effortless outfits — and for doling out great advice to style your own robe.

We hope this series inspires you to think differently, and to play with style. Just like the products you choose for your home, clothes should make you feel good.

So, without further ado: welcome to Part I!

Approach:

I’m always on the go but it doesn’t mean I don’t make time to put together a look. Here, I put together everyday basics that are stylish, comfortable, and have a bit of flare

Keep in mind…

ALL TOGETHER NOW

I started with the French Laundry Tee from Tardy Donkey (available Aug 1st!). The embroidered trademark five X’s add a pretty sweet pop of color when visible. I paired it with a high rise slightly relaxed cropped wide-leg jean (say that fast). After all, your jean does not have to be boring. Play with texture, different fits and length. Our Hand-Painted Stripe Robe’s bold stripes are playful and striking. It makes quite a statement yet is never obnoxious. Silver sandals give the look that extra cool touch.

ACCESSORIES

With this look, I didn’t overthink my accessories. The necklace, bracelets, anklet and rings I am wearing are exactly what I wear daily. You can do the very same! If you want to turn it up a notch, you can always add an awesome statement necklace. Maybe it’s that awesome tribal necklace you were gifted from a friend’s pre-Covid travels, or even a nameplate necklace. Don’t be afraid and try not to over think it. Be organic with this look. Just make it uniquely you.

JUST REMEMBER: YOUR ROBE, YOUR CALL.

Your robe is uniquely yours, just as your style is uniquely yours. Have fun with it, and let us know how you’re wearing your robe!
